Wedding Car Hire at Imperial House Banqueting, Croydon

Imperial House Banqueting on Imperial Way is a venue we know from actually providing wedding transport there, and it has a very different feel from some of Croydon's country-house and hotel wedding venues.

It is particularly well suited to larger celebrations. In our experience, Imperial is popular with Afro-Caribbean families planning substantial wedding receptions, where guest numbers around the 300–400 mark are common. The venue has also been recently refurbished, giving the reception space a much fresher feel while remaining a more budget-friendly option for a large celebration.

From a wedding-car point of view, however, the useful information is not how the room is decorated. It is how the day normally reaches Imperial, where the bridal car can stop, what happens with a limousine, and how much hire time couples genuinely need.

Imperial Is Usually the Final Destination, Not the Start of the Wedding

The weddings we attend at Imperial House are very often arriving there for the final reception after the main ceremony has taken place elsewhere. That makes the transport pattern quite different from an all-in-one wedding venue.

The Rolls-Royce may collect the bride for the ceremony, wait while the marriage takes place and then take the couple on to Imperial for the reception. Depending on the wedding, there may also be family movements, a photography stop or time needed between the ceremony and evening celebration.

That is why we normally look at the whole itinerary before recommending a hire period. The postcode alone does not tell us how much wedding-car hire you need.

For Many Imperial Weddings, 3–4 Hours Is the Sweet Spot

For a straightforward wedding with the ceremony elsewhere and Imperial House as the final reception, three to four hours often works extremely well.

It gives sensible time for collection, the ceremony, chauffeur waiting and the onward journey to Imperial without turning the booking into an unnecessary full-day hire.

We have been providing wedding and event transport for more than 15 years, and one of the easiest mistakes to make when planning a wedding car is to think only about driving time. The car may travel relatively few miles while still being committed to the wedding for several hours.

Planning a Photography Stop? We Recommend Six Hours

If you want to stop for proper wedding photographs between the ceremony and Imperial, our advice changes: allow six hours.

On paper, six hours can sound like a lot. In practice, it disappears quickly. A ceremony running late, congratulations outside, family photographs, loading the dress back into the car, travelling to a photography location, waiting for the photographer to get the shots you actually want, South London traffic and then making the final journey to Imperial can consume the extra time surprisingly easily.

We would rather build enough time into the booking for you to enjoy that part of the day than have the photographer watching the clock because the car is due to leave.

If a photography stop is genuinely part of your plan, trust us on the extra time: this is one of those occasions where six hours is usually justified.

Arriving at Imperial in a Rolls-Royce

A Rolls-Royce works well at Imperial because we can normally bring it right up outside the venue entrance. That matters when the bride is wearing a large dress, when the weather is poor, and simply because the arrival should feel like an arrival rather than a walk across a car park.

Imperial sits in a busy commercial part of Croydon rather than at the end of a country-house driveway, so the car itself contributes a great deal to the sense of occasion. A white Phantom, Ghost or Cullinan outside the entrance immediately creates the wedding moment.

Space around the venue can become busy, particularly during a large reception, so an experienced chauffeur will think about positioning before the doors open rather than simply stopping wherever there happens to be a gap.

Limousines Need a Different Approach

A long limousine cannot be treated like a Rolls-Royce here.

With the Baby Bentley or Hummer H2, we normally approach the arrival with the vehicle's length and turning circle in mind. The limousine may need to reverse towards the venue to get as close as conditions allow, and on a particularly busy day it may not be possible to bring a long vehicle all the way to the same point as the Rolls-Royce.

This is one of those small venue details that matters much more on the day than it does while looking at photographs online. We plan the arrival around the vehicle you have actually booked.

The venue's security team can often help with vehicle movements when the entrance is busy. The exact amount of usable space can vary with parking and other activity, so we allow for that rather than promising that every vehicle can always stop in exactly the same place.

Large Family Weddings Often Need More Than One Vehicle

Imperial's larger receptions can involve several different transport requirements rather than one bridal car.

A Phantom or Ghost may be used for the bride or couple, while an 8-seat Gen 2 Baby Bentley limousine or 16-seat Hummer carries bridesmaids, siblings or close family. For larger celebrations, keeping groups together can be much easier than trying to coordinate several ordinary cars arriving independently.

Where more than one vehicle is involved, we work backwards from the ceremony and reception times so that the principal wedding car and family transport complement each other rather than all arriving at the same entrance in the wrong order.

A Venue We Also Know from Sri Lankan Tamil Saree Ceremonies

Our familiarity with Imperial House does not come only from weddings. We also provide Rolls-Royce transport here for Sri Lankan Tamil saree and coming-of-age ceremonies, an important family celebration that can have an arrival every bit as carefully planned as a wedding.

For a local saree ceremony, one hour is often enough for collection, photographs and the journey to Imperial. Where the family wants more breathing room, or there is a greater chance of delays while everybody gets ready and photographs are taken, two hours can be the better choice. A local Rolls-Royce booking for this type of celebration is typically £395.

We will cover saree-ceremony transport properly in a separate guide. It is mentioned here because it is part of our real experience of Imperial House and the different types of major family celebrations held at the venue.

Imperial House Wedding Car Hire Prices

Imperial House uses our standard Bromley-area wedding pricing. These prices are based on the format of the wedding rather than simply multiplying an hourly rate.

Wedding Hire Phantom / Ghost / Silver Cloud Dawn / Cullinan Gen 2 Baby Bentley Limo – 8 Seats Hummer H2 – 16 Seats
One-Way Wedding Hire £395 £595 £295 £450
3-Hour Church & Civil Wedding £550 £650 £450 £550
6-Hour Asian/Indian Wait & Return £595 £795 £495 £595
8-Hour Asian/Indian Full Day £650 £850 £595 £650
10-Hour Asian/Indian Extended Full Day £800 £1,000 £695 £800

Need four hours rather than three?

Imperial is a good example of why we do not force every wedding into a rigid package. If your ceremony and journey to the reception need around four hours, send us the actual itinerary and we can price the additional time sensibly.

Why the six-hour option matters when photographs are planned

The standard three-hour church and civil package works for many weddings, but a genuine photography stop changes the day. If you want to leave the ceremony, travel somewhere specifically for photographs and then continue to Imperial, six hours gives the day room to breathe.

Which Wedding Car Works Best at Imperial?

Rolls-Royce Phantom

The Phantom is the classic choice for a strong formal arrival. Its size and presence work particularly well at a large reception, and the rear-hinged coach doors make getting in and out easier with a wedding dress.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

The Ghost gives a slightly more understated Rolls-Royce arrival while retaining the comfort and rear passenger space expected from a proper chauffeur-driven wedding car.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan

The Cullinan has a taller, more contemporary presence and is particularly useful where rear-cabin space and easy access are priorities. Against a busy reception entrance it is difficult to miss.

Baby Bentley & Hummer Limousines

For bridesmaids and family groups, the Gen 2 Baby Bentley seats up to eight and the Hummer H2 up to sixteen. At Imperial, however, the arrival needs to be planned differently from the Rolls-Royce because the longer vehicles may need to reverse towards the entrance and use whatever space is realistically available on the day.

What Regularly Working at Imperial Teaches You

Imperial House is a good example of why genuine venue experience matters in wedding transport.

Knowing the venue means knowing that a Rolls-Royce can normally come right outside, while a long limousine may need to reverse in and sometimes stop a little further away. It means understanding that parking and entrance space can become tight during a large reception. It means recognising that this is very often the final destination after a ceremony elsewhere, so three or four hours may be exactly right.

It also means knowing when that advice changes. Add a proper photography stop and we are much more likely to recommend six hours, because we have seen how quickly that time gets used.

Those are not details you get from a venue brochure. They come from actually taking wedding cars there.

Imperial House Wedding Car Hire FAQs

How long should I book a Rolls-Royce for an Imperial House wedding?

For many weddings where the ceremony takes place elsewhere and Imperial is the final reception, three to four hours is a very good fit. If you want a separate photography stop between the ceremony and reception, we normally recommend allowing six hours.

Can a Rolls-Royce pull up directly outside Imperial House?

Normally, yes. A Rolls-Royce can usually be positioned right outside the venue for the bridal or couple's arrival, although the exact space available naturally depends on how busy the entrance and parking are at that moment.

Can a Hummer or stretch limousine get to the entrance?

Longer vehicles require more planning. We normally reverse the limousine towards the venue and get as close as conditions safely allow. On busy occasions it may not be possible for a long limousine to reach exactly the same drop-off point as a Rolls-Royce.

Is parking easy at Imperial House?

We would describe parking and vehicle space as something to plan rather than something to take for granted. Large receptions can make the area busy, which is one reason our chauffeurs think ahead about the arrival and work with venue staff where necessary.

Do you provide cars for large Afro-Caribbean weddings at Imperial House?

Yes. Imperial is a venue we regularly associate with larger Afro-Caribbean wedding receptions and family celebrations. We can provide the principal Rolls-Royce as well as larger-capacity transport for bridesmaids or family where required.

Do you provide Rolls-Royce hire for saree ceremonies at Imperial?

Yes. We have provided Rolls-Royce transport for Sri Lankan Tamil saree and coming-of-age ceremonies at Imperial House. For a local journey, one hour is often sufficient, while two hours can provide useful extra time for delays and photographs. A typical local Rolls-Royce booking is £395.

Can we view the actual wedding car before booking?

Yes. Viewings are welcome by arrangement, and we can also provide current photographs of the actual vehicle you are considering rather than relying only on generic manufacturer images.

Planning Your Wedding Transport for Imperial House

If Imperial House is your reception venue, send us the ceremony address, ceremony time, expected finish time, whether you want a photography stop, passenger numbers and the vehicles you are considering.

We can then work out whether the day genuinely needs three hours, four hours, six hours or something more bespoke. The aim is to give you enough time to enjoy the transport properly without paying for hours that add nothing to the wedding.
