Birthday Restaurant & Afternoon Tea Chauffeur Hire
A birthday treat should begin before you reach the table. Imagine a white Rolls-Royce arriving at home, a relaxed journey into London and a chauffeur opening the door outside somewhere truly special.
Afternoon tea at The Ritz. A birthday lunch beneath the palms at The Landmark. A memorable arrival at The Savoy, or an evening with friends at a favourite Mayfair restaurant. These are occasions where the journey deserves a little thought of its own.
At Hire a Rolls Royce, we have spent more than 15 years arranging chauffeur-driven journeys for celebrations across London and the South East. We know many of the city's well-known hotels and restaurants from taking customers there. Just as importantly, we know that a beautiful entrance does not always mean straightforward parking — and that a sensible plan makes the day more enjoyable.
Our white Rolls-Royce Phantom Series 2 — a lovely way to start a birthday occasion.
Make the journey part of the birthday present
There is a lovely moment when the birthday guest looks out of the window and realises the Rolls-Royce is for them. Perhaps their partner has arranged afternoon tea without saying where they are going. Perhaps the family has planned a surprise for Mum's 70th. Or perhaps a couple simply wants an afternoon without thinking about driving, parking or the journey home.
We can arrange a collection from home, a hotel or another agreed address, then take you to your chosen restaurant or afternoon tea venue. Some customers prefer a single journey and make their own way home. Others want the same car to return afterwards. Both can work well, provided we know the plan in advance.
The venue booking is normally made directly with the hotel or restaurant. Our role is to look after the transport and help make the arrival feel as special as the occasion itself.
Six beautiful places for birthday afternoon tea in London
These are not simply six famous names. Each has its own character, its own kind of arrival and a few practical details worth knowing before you set off.
The Ritz London
For many families, birthday afternoon tea at The Ritz is the classic London treat. There is something wonderful about being collected at home in a white Rolls-Royce and arriving at one of the capital’s best-known hotels, dressed for a special occasion. It suits a birthday surprise for two just as well as a thoughtful gift from children to their parents.
From the chauffeur’s seat: We know the hotel well from repeated journeys. The Ritz is on busy Piccadilly, so we agree the approach and collection arrangements in advance; an extended photo stop cannot be assumed.
The Landmark London
The Landmark has a very different atmosphere: afternoon tea beneath towering palms and a magnificent glass atrium. Its High Palms High Tea makes an especially attractive birthday setting for guests who want grandeur without the bustle of a busy street outside the dining room.
From the chauffeur’s seat: In our experience the front entrance is a particularly convenient place to arrive, with welcoming doormen and a lovely sense of occasion. Any on-site waiting or parking must still be agreed with the hotel.
Claridge’s
Claridge’s has that unmistakable old-London elegance. A Rolls-Royce journey makes a fitting beginning to afternoon tea here, whether you are surprising a partner or celebrating a significant birthday with a parent. The pleasure is in the unhurried experience, not simply reaching the hotel.
From the chauffeur’s seat: Brook Street can be busy, and the entrance is used by other guests and vehicles. We plan the drop-off carefully and allow for a brief, safe photo opportunity where possible.
The Dorchester
The Dorchester is a favourite for customers who want a grand hotel experience from the moment they step out of the car. The familiar welcome from the doormen adds to the birthday feeling, and the setting works beautifully for an afternoon tea treat or a special dinner later in the day.
From the chauffeur’s seat: We discuss the appropriate hotel entrance and return pickup rather than assuming the chauffeur can remain outside. Park Lane traffic can affect arrival times.
The Savoy
For the sheer theatre of arriving in a Rolls-Royce, The Savoy is difficult to beat. Its distinctive approach from the Strand into Savoy Court creates a wonderful sense of anticipation. The hotel’s afternoon tea is served in Gallery, making this a particularly memorable way to celebrate a birthday.
From the chauffeur’s seat: Savoy Court provides an exceptional arrival backdrop, but it is an active hotel entrance rather than a private photo studio. Stopping and photographs depend on hotel staff, traffic and available space.
The Georgian at Harrods
For something a little different, consider afternoon tea at The Georgian inside Harrods. It combines the treat of a chauffeur-driven arrival with time to browse the famous store, perhaps choosing a birthday gift along the way. The Georgian is on the fourth floor, so this is an outing with a different rhythm from a hotel tea.
From the chauffeur’s seat: Knightsbridge is busy and stopping arrangements vary. We will arrange a suitable lawful drop-off near the store; the Rolls-Royce cannot be promised a waiting position outside.
Would you like your Rolls-Royce to wait?
This is one of the most useful questions to settle before booking. Afternoon tea is not something you want to rush, particularly when the family is celebrating a milestone birthday. Yet the car cannot simply remain outside every hotel for two hours while everyone enjoys themselves.
Some hotels have on-site parking or waiting arrangements, often with a charge. From our experience, a figure of approximately £20 for two hours can be a useful illustration, but this is not a fixed hotel tariff. Charges, permission to park and time limits differ between venues and can change. We confirm any relevant costs when arranging the hire.
Depending on your itinerary, it may be more practical for the chauffeur to park at a suitable location, return at an agreed time, or quote separately for a one-way transfer and a later collection. We'll explain the options before you decide.
Birthday restaurants worth arriving at in style
Afternoon tea is only half the story. Many birthday bookings involve a special lunch or dinner, from a romantic table for two to a larger group of friends heading into Mayfair. These are some of the destinations customers ask us about and places we know from chauffeur work.
Bacchanalia
An extravagant setting for a birthday dinner. Mount Street can sometimes offer a convenient approach, but the precise stopping point depends on restrictions and traffic.
Scott’s
A classic choice for a special meal, with an elegant Mayfair atmosphere. We agree a sensible drop-off rather than planning for the vehicle to remain outside.
Sexy Fish
A lively, glamorous birthday destination. Berkeley Square traffic, roadworks and changing access arrangements make a generous travel buffer sensible.
Novikov
A popular option for a birthday evening. We have found the approach relatively straightforward on many visits, although nearby roads can still become congested.
Benares
An appealing choice for a special Indian dining experience. Its Mayfair location makes the timing and return collection worth discussing before the evening.
Hakkasan
A sophisticated restaurant option for an evening celebration. We confirm the exact branch and entrance before advising on the best drop-off.
Oblix at The Shard
A birthday meal with an elevated London setting. This is not a doorstep parking arrangement: the most practical meeting point needs agreeing in advance.
A birthday closer to home
Not every special birthday needs a journey into Central London. We also know restaurants around South London and Kent, including Chapter One near Locksbottom and Blue Harbour in Bromley. These can be lovely choices when guests would rather spend more time celebrating and less time travelling. We can discuss other local destinations according to your collection address and the sort of evening you have in mind.
For some venues, our experience may help with practical suggestions about arrival times or a reservation enquiry. Restaurant tables, access and special arrangements remain entirely subject to the venue's confirmation.
The difference between arriving in a Rolls-Royce and a stretch limousine
A Rolls-Royce Phantom or Ghost is particularly well suited to an intimate birthday dinner or afternoon tea. Its size, comfort and understated elegance suit hotel entrances, and it can be a lovely surprise for a couple or a parent celebrating a milestone birthday.
For a group of friends, the Gen 2 eight-seat Baby Bentley or white sixteen-seat Hummer H2 may be more suitable. The journey becomes part of the party. But a longer limousine needs more planning: narrow roads, turning space, loading restrictions and busy Mayfair streets can make a direct entrance impossible.
We will discuss the best practical stopping place for the actual vehicle rather than promising a photograph outside a doorway that cannot lawfully be reached.
Which car would you choose for the birthday?
Rolls-Royce Phantom
For a grand birthday surprise, elegant hotel arrival or special afternoon for two.
Rolls-Royce Ghost
A beautiful choice for couples, milestone birthdays and relaxed chauffeur-driven dining.
Gen 2 Baby Bentley
For up to eight friends travelling together to a restaurant or birthday celebration.
For larger groups, our white Hummer H2 limousine accommodates up to sixteen passengers, subject to the confirmed booking and seating requirements. We'll advise on vehicle suitability for your destination.
How we plan your birthday outing
Is it a surprise, an anniversary of a milestone birthday, a gift for a parent or a group dinner? We'll tailor the arrangements to the people travelling.
We need the date, restaurant or hotel, booking time, passenger numbers and pickup address. For a surprise, tell us who knows the plan.
We'll discuss waiting, parking charges where applicable and the best collection point after your meal.
London traffic and hotel entrances can be unpredictable. We build the quotation around a realistic itinerary and allow for photographs where safe and permitted.
From Croydon, Bromley, Kent and Surrey into London
We arrange birthday restaurant and afternoon tea chauffeur journeys from Croydon, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Kent, Surrey and surrounding South London areas, as well as collections elsewhere by arrangement. A trip from Bromley to The Landmark needs a different plan from a short Mayfair transfer, particularly when you want the chauffeur to wait and bring you home.
Give us the full itinerary and we'll quote for the journey you actually want — not a generic package with assumptions hidden in the small print.
Birthday afternoon tea and restaurant chauffeur FAQs
Can you take us to The Ritz for birthday afternoon tea?
Yes, subject to vehicle availability. We regularly arrange chauffeur-driven journeys to Central London hotels. Tell us your reservation time and pickup address so we can plan the journey.
Can the Rolls-Royce wait while we have afternoon tea?
We can discuss waiting or a later return collection. On-site hotel parking is not always available and may carry additional charges. We'll confirm the practical arrangements and quotation beforehand.
Do luxury hotels charge to park the chauffeur’s car?
Some do. Around £20 for two hours is an illustrative figure from our experience, not a standard or guaranteed charge. Actual fees and permission to park depend on the hotel and must be checked.
Can we take photographs outside The Savoy or The Ritz?
We will try to allow time for photographs where it is safe, lawful and permitted by hotel staff. We cannot guarantee a particular parking space, stopping duration or photo location.
Can you arrange a surprise birthday collection from home?
Yes. Where practical, we can discuss waiting discreetly nearby and arriving after an agreed message or telephone signal from the organiser.
Do you book the afternoon tea or restaurant table?
Customers normally reserve directly with the venue. We can sometimes help with an enquiry or practical advice, but tables and special requests are subject to the restaurant's availability and confirmation.
Can eight or sixteen of us travel together?
Our Gen 2 Baby Bentley has up to eight passenger seats and our white Hummer H2 up to sixteen, subject to vehicle availability and confirmed passenger and child-seating requirements. Larger limousines need extra consideration for hotel and restaurant access.
Do you offer birthday flowers, chocolates or decorations?
We can discuss flowers, chocolates, ribbons and personalised decorations in advance. Some extras involve an additional fee and are subject to availability.
How much does birthday afternoon tea chauffeur hire cost?
The transport price depends on the car, pickup address, destination, date, duration and whether a return journey or waiting time is needed. Afternoon tea and restaurant bills are separate unless explicitly agreed.
